There are no words to encapsulate my current emotions - emotions as varied as the fish in the sea, birds in the sky and insects on the rainforest floor. What began as a "wild card" entry, no formal zoological background instead, in-the-field wildlife encounters and adventures, led me to the Top 3 of the Wild Kingdom "Next Wild Guide" Host Competition .
I didn't win the final position with Wild Kingdom but I am so thankful for the experience. 100% Reggie throughout the competition, I couldn't have done anything better. I left the interviews and auditions on a personal high and as my sister said, "it is feeling no one can ever take away". It's been fun, challenging and most of all, inspiring. You have each inspired me to keep pushing down this path and continue spreading my message of travel, wildlife, culture and the great outdoors!! I am so fortunate to have the support and love of such an incredible friend and family base all over the world!! Best of luck to Stephanie Arne! I'm sure she will be a great Wild Guide and carry on the Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom legacy. Asante Sana Rafikis! |

On Monday, June 17th, I had the opportunity to meet those responsible for the Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom Wild Guide competition. Enthusiastic, creative and passionate, each person I met inspired and paved the way for this journey. On Tuesday, I auditioned at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. The production crew, Malone & Co, were professional, excited and willing to do just about anything to get a shot - even having their shins pecked off by territorial Rockhoppers. The stars of the show were of course the penguins!! Gentoos, Rockhoppers and King Penguins, some keen for their close up's others turning their noses to the "paparazzi", each exuded their own unique and hilarious personalities. July 15th is the Big Reveal...who will be Mutual of Omaha's Next Wild Guide?

Monday and Tuesday are the big days! Days I've been indirectly training for the past 29 years of glorious existence. Wild Guide Finals - Interviews and Auditions!
I've never felt more prepared or more suited for anything else before. I recently asked a friend to wish me luck to which she responded, "If you need luck you don't deserve it, and if you deserve it you don't need luck. So I am not wishing you luck, you worked hard for this". Thanks everyone for the support and encouragement over the past few months. It's been an incredible journey to the Top 3 and I can't wait to see what WILD shenanigans lay ahead. Love, Light and Camel Kisses!! |

On this incredible day, I must first thank the Mutual of Omaha for such an incredible opportunity to carry on the Wild Kingdom Legacy. I would also like to applaudall the Wild Guide contestants for their diligence in spreading the wild word. Also a big shout out to all the media's support! Omaha World-Herald, KMTV Action 3 News, L Magazine, Lincoln Journal Star, Krock Purerock, Hot Country B104.7, 1350 KMAN, Steve&Gina KAT 103.7, Big Party Show 94.1, Star 104.5, Montez On Kiss 96.1 & Entrepreneur on Fire Podcast. But most of all…thank YOU! Friends & family who supported and encouraged me through it all.
